The second republic
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa leads all government programs that seek to attain an upper-middle income society by the year 2030. He is assisted in executing this mandate by the Honorable Vice President Cde Costantino Guvheya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga. Together they work with a Cabinet comprising 20 Ministers. The Second Republic introduced Performance Contracts as a way of improving government public sector performance. Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, heads of parastatals signed contracts to insure that targets are implemented and met. The Seccond Republic also launched an Anti Corruption Drive to weed out corrupt activities that involve embezzlement and misuse of Government resources by public officials. This is being done through the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commision. The President also introduced Peace Building and National Healing through the Zimbabwe Peace and Reconciliation Commision. This body has made great progress in bringing closure to the Matabeleland disturbances. The nations Foreign policy is opened up for business through the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra and the engagement and re-engangement drive. Both initiatives has seen a number of investors help rebuild the economy across all sectors. A number of reforms across the economy and political arena have taken center stage. These reforms were initiated to revive the economy, currency and the relationship of Zimbabweans and the international community. Zimbabwe is under sanctions from The United States of America and Great Britain. These sanctions have a negative impact on trade and economic growth of Zimbabwe hindering the economy access to a number of resources required to sustain and build an economy. The President rallies Zimbabwean to build their nation despite the existence of these trade embargoes.
