Honorable Constantino Guvheya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga is the current Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe. He was appointed into Office by His Excellency the President Dr. ED Mnangagwa in 2017 upon the establishment of the Second Republic. In 2020, VP Chiwenga doubled up as the Minister of Health and Child Care a strategic appointment to a portfolio that saw him successfully manage and contain the Covid 19 outbreak through effective administration, communication and roll-out programmes such as vaccination. He also supervises the performance of all Ministries and a number of Cabinet Committees.
VP Chiwenga is amongst experienced and seasoned politicians who sacrificed their lives to join and fight for the liberation of Zimbabwe. He is one of the two serving ZANU PF Second Secretaries possessing a strong military background. He is a Central Committee and Politburo member respectively. VP Chiwenga is a former Minister of Defence and War Veterans, former Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and Command Element of the Joint Operations Command known in short as JOC. He is an accomplished war veteran of the Second Chimurenga. He joined the ranks of ZANLA, the ZANU military wing at a tender age in 1973 together with the likes of the late National Hero Perrence Shiri. In the struggle, he was as Cde Dominic Kanenge. He was appointed various duties and responsibilities along his time in the struggle until he became a member of the ZANU High Command.

During the Covid 19 pandemic outbreak, Hon Muchinguri-Kashiri was appointed by His Excellency the President Dr. ED Mnangagwa as Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on the Covid-19 Outbreak to spearhead containing and fight against the deadly virus
